Today Dave, I picked up our copy of
Portland Hill Walks and chose a 2 mile walk through Reed Canyon and Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden. I highly recommend all you Portlanders go out and buy this book. It takes you through our town's hilly neighborhoods and has descriptions of local and natural history. For example, In today's walk I learned that the marsh water in Reed Canyon, though crystal clear, will give you giardia if you drink it and is home to spawning lampreys! Lampreys!
The only disadvantage for we stroller-pushing types is that most of these walks feature at least one flight of stairs. Isn't Dave strong? And in my opinion they're too long for the Ergo.
Anneke was not nearly as enthralled with the ducks as she is with our kitties. But she had fun.
We're definitely soaking up these last beautiful days. I am holding onto summer for dear life!

Sounds like it's to buy a backpack carrier (also good for airport/grocery shopping/etc. so you can hold coffee and cart a kid around). You are welcome to borrow ours.
I am terrified of the Rhododendron Gardens! I took L&A to feed the ducks (grain, not bread). I love my children, but when we were cornered by a gaggle of hissing geese, it was every wo/man for her/himself!
What a fun walk! We'll have to do this one soon. We've learned to bring the ergo and the bob - and there seems to be a park mid-way through each walk for "wiggle" time.
I had no idea about the lampreys. Erin would like that. She's part lamprey sometimes.
What a fantastic walk! We always bring ergo and Bob because if we don't, well, we're unhappy about the decision. This sounds like a nice walk to do before it gets too soggy.
