Okay, fellow parents: I did it. I booked a trip to see my sister for her birthday (yay!) without
Anneke. I can't WAIT to see my sister, but please give me suggestions/reassurance about being away from our sweet babe for four days! She will be in good hands with Daddy the whole time. Now that I've booked the ticket I'm so nervous about it!

I don't know if this is comfort, but you will miss her more than she will miss you. AND the anticipation and the guilt before hand are way harder to endure than actually being away.
It's all about Skype.
And the pump. The dreaded pump.
Congrats! You're going to have a blast!
Enjoy yourself! Your child will survive without you. Yes, you will miss her but you'll come back a better mom for having some time to yourself.
I'm in the same boat. A M-F work trip to Reno (couldn't it be a more fun place at least?) in mid-June.
We'll be giving it a "test run" a couple of times earlier that month. Steve and her are going away for a night, and then I've got another weekend work trip. So, we'll get a chance to practice in small doses.
Maybe you could try the same? Go away somewhere Sat. afternoon-Sunday morning or something for a dry run?
ewww, Reno! well, we'll have to discuss over beers after I get back!
We will make it all better with QT.
Thanks for coming...I know how hard it is to leave Anneke, so it means a great deal to me.
okay...this might be crazy. But I STILL sleep with one of Sam's stuffed animals or soft blankets when he is gone. Smells like him. Take advantage of the time just for you and remember that she is in great hands. Have fun.
I actually thought of you being away from Sam when he was a wee babe!
thanks, everyone, for the wise counsel!
Can you send me your email and phone number? I am leaving on Thursday for Seattle then I am heading your way.

I think your digits were in my phone that died.

Enjoy the mommy time - we get so little of it! And it will be a fun reunion when you get back home!
Well, I have no advice but am wishing you a fantastic time.
